Dogs at Work Festival

Yesterday we attended Planet Dog's "Dogs at Work" festival and parade in support of pet adoption and working dogs everywhere. It was great fun and Suzan and I had a table so that we could answer questions about service dogs. There were animal rescue groups, a real K9 and artist and author Stephen Huneck was signing books. Our service dog friend Milo got his CGC from Nancy at Gooddogz Training. Congratulations Milo!
Here we are in the parade...
Leading up to the festival...

I got to meet Sally, Stephen Huneck's muse for his amazing wood cuts and books. We thought we would have some doggie fun and recreate the "Greetings" woodcut! I think we did a pretty good job!

Great pictures! Where was the festival?

Thanks OlRedHair, I jumped the gun and hit publish before I wrote anything. It's hard not having thumbs!

The festival was in Portland, Maine. We have lots of great dog stuff going on around here!

Wags,
Logan

Great post. When you get a moment, please take a look at this video -- ahamoment.com/pg/moments/view/3759 -- I'm positive that you're going to find it very inspirational. It's the story of one woman's "aha moment" that changed her life and led her to start an organization that trains service dogs. It's a great story on a great site created by Mutual of Omaha to highlight good works, inspirational stories, and "aha moments" of all kinds. You might even want to share your own story.

Thanks,

Thanks for the link Jack. Carol's aha moment was truly inspirational and St. Francis sounds like a wonderful service dog program.

Hi Logan; It looks like your mom got a new scooter, we have never seen that one before, boy does it look sharp.
What a beautiful day you had, looks like a lot of fun.

Great photos - glad you had fun. How warm did it get. Helping Paws use to be in a Hopkins City Festival Parade but it got too hot for the dogs on the pavement. That looks like fun. Like the roof on Suzan's fancy scooter.

Looks like great fun Logan! Were there any little SD's there like me?!

That's Mom's BIG RIG! I love it, it goes FAST! And the shade canopy is one that they make for beach chairs. She's so clever. :)

Don't worry Emma, it wasn't too hot. Low 70's and it was only a short distance, just a little dog parade to start the festivities.

Sorry Luigi, no little SDs this time.

I absolutely love the "greetings" picture! I like to have that on our front door. Since we have six dogs in our pack, visitors get the "greet" and that would be a good warning. LOL. I just found your blog today.

Logan's getting ready to update her blog (really!) and we noticed that this last post has Stephen Huneck in it who passed away on January 7, 2010. It was great to see his smiling face again.
